The European Organisation for Technical Assessment (EOTA) has presented its 2023 annual report, highlighting several important achievements and notable expansion. During the year, 1,354 European Technical Assessments (ETAs) were issued through the member Technical Assessment Bodies (TABs), bringing the total number to 13,382 ETAs.

Among the achievements of 2023, the inclusion of 55 European Assessment Documents (EADs) in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) stands out, the highest number in the last five years. This increase is attributable to the Action Plan implemented by the European Commission and EOTA, designed to accelerate the citation of pending EADs. So far, 650 EADs have been adopted, and 382 have been cited in the OJEU.

According to a study conducted for EOTA by the Centre for Industrial Studies (CSIL)of Milan, the demand for ETAs has steadily grown globally. Australia (81 ETAs), China (73 ETAs), Taiwan (63 ETAs), India (53 ETAs), and the United States (50 ETAs) are among the countries with the greatest interest outside the European Union. In the sector of external thermal insulation systems, Serbia has contributed 26% of all ETAs issued outside the EU.

Interest in ETAs has also increased in China, Brazil, India, and the United Arab Emirates. Morocco, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Vietnam are emerging markets due to their growing trade relations with the EU. In some of these countries, ETAs are being used not only for trade with the EU but also for the domestic market.

The results of 2023 reflect EOTA's commitment to innovation, quality, and safety in the global construction sector, reaffirming its role in technical assessment. This annual report highlights the progress made and establishes a solid foundation for continuous development in the coming years.
